Will changing the key change the tempo?
No. We use modern pitch-shifting that preserves the original tempo while changing only the pitch. The song plays at the same speed, just in a different key.
How far can I shift?
Up to one octave in either direction (±12 semitones). Smaller shifts (±1–4 semitones) produce the cleanest results. Extreme shifts can introduce audible artifacts.
What's a "semitone"?
A semitone is the smallest musical interval in Western music — one fret on a guitar, or one key on a piano. Twelve semitones equal a full octave.
Why would I want to change the key of a song?
Common reasons: matching your guitar's tuning (e.g., you tune half-step down so you shift the track up a half-step), making a song singable for a different vocal range, or simply finding a more playable key.
Is the audio quality preserved?
Mostly. Pitch shifting is a destructive process — the further you shift, the more artifacts can appear. Small shifts sound nearly identical to the original.
