Will the pitch change when I slow it down?
No. We use time-stretching algorithms that change only the tempo while keeping the pitch (key) of the song exactly the same.
How slow can I make a song?
Down to 25% of the original speed. Most users get the best balance of slowness and audio clarity between 50% and 80%.
Will the audio quality drop?
Time-stretching introduces small artifacts that get more noticeable the more you slow the audio. Modest stretches (down to 70–80%) sound nearly identical to the original. Extreme stretches will reveal some smearing on transients.
Why slow down a song?
The most common reason is learning a fast part by ear — guitar solos, complex bass lines, vocal runs. Slowing the song makes individual notes much easier to hear and transcribe.
Can I loop a section to practice it?
Not in this single-shot tool — but the full stempo app has A-B loop, section markers, and tempo control all built into the player.
Does this work for any genre?
Yes. The algorithm is genre-agnostic. It works equally well on rock, jazz, classical, electronic, hip-hop — anything.
